Curriculum

Our preschool curriculum is guided by the national Early Years Learning Framework and the belief that young children are capable and competent learners. We believe a play based learning environment combined with intentional teaching best supports children's learning and development.

Teachers plan for teaching and learning  through a cycle of observing children and asking the questions What did I see? Why does it matter? and What am I going to do about it? Each teacher then analyses these observations to develop a ‘big question’ based on what children are researching through their actions, questions and comments. The class program is always available for viewing and questions and comments are welcomed.

The Early Years Learning Framework, for children from birth to five years, is a framework designed to ensure your child receives quality education. It describes childhood as a time of belonging, being and becoming.

Belonging is the basis for living a fulfilling life. Children feel they belong because of the relationships they have with their family, community, culture and place.

Being is about living here and now. Childhood is a special time in life and children need time to just ‘be’ - time to play, try new things and have fun.

Becoming is about the learning and development that young children experience. Children start to form their sense of identity from an early age, which shapes the type of adult they will become.
